Partners Involved: Expanded Church Response (ECR) & Development Aid From People to People (DAPP)

After two years of successfully implementing the No Means No program in Zambia, Expanded Church Response (ECR) transitioned to become our first Zambian scaling partner, providing training and support to new No Means No partner, Development Aid From People to People (DAPP). A scaling partner is responsible for amplifying the impact of the No Means No program by leading the technical onboarding of new partners with minimal support from NMNW. ECR was well-suited as a scaling partner, as they have been implementing the No Means No program since 2021 and are already equipped with their own NMNW-certified Lead Trainers who can lead training without support from NMNW Trainers.
With ECR taking the lead, NMNW operated behind the scenes, working with ECR to ensure everything they needed to operate as a scaling partner was in place. Both organizations collaborated to design a scope of work and budget for training of Instructor Candidates from DAPP. NMNW worked closely to prepare ECR with the tools and resources needed to onboard another partner. Then, before the start of the Instructor training, technical staff from ECR provided orientation sessions and facilitated planning meetings with DAPP, which covered the following key content areas:
Program Orientation Series - covering key topics related to management of the No Means No program such as an overview of the curriculum, community mobilization, Instructor support & supervision;
Procurement - ensuring DAPP had all the materials necessary to run quality No Means No programming
Network Referral System design - ensuring DAPP had a robust system in place to handle any disclosures resulting from the No Means No program; and
Monitoring & Evaluation - ensuring DAPP had the tools and data entry templates needed to report essential indicators back through ECR to NMNW.
Due to budgetary constraints and with input from DAPP, NMNW and ECR made the strategic decision to reduce the length of the female Instructor training to 2-weeks. NMNW provided an adapted 2-week training schedule to the experienced Trainers from ECR, who impressively facilitated the training without additional support from NMNW. 18 female Instructors were certified (out of 20 Instructor Candidates) who all shared on their feedback survey that the training helped increase their awareness of sexual and gender-based violence.
No Means No Worldwide is very excited for this unique and promising partnership between ECR and DAPP, and is excited about the potential to support more partners in becoming scaling partners that support new partners to implement the No Means No program in their regions.
